The 6 inch hollow concrete block is the standard choice for internal partitions and single-storey external walls. Its hollow cores cut weight and material cost while keeping enough strength for residential walling; cores can be filled with concrete where extra strength is needed.
Blocks are machine-moulded and cured to consistent 390 x 190 x 150mm dimensions, so courses run level and mortar consumption stays predictable — roughly 10 blocks per square metre of wall.
